The Name of the Blog Game
Why is that I get ill-humoured emails, some of them downright rude, to this blog?
I have received mail (again) from some mindless louts misinformed lightweights about the title of my blog, accusing me of offending their sensibilities.
Apart from bringing home to me the paucity of intellect out there in the big wide world, I was reminded of a time that my site (before its rebirth as a blog) was refused a listing in a directory because the title was too controversial.
In any case, I was going to change the name just before I copped my last rude comment, not in order to hide the fact that there are millions of women in various stages of menopause, but because I became a little tired of seeing the word menopause menopause menopause every time I turned around.
I want something more in the line of Direct Action!
* Coping with the Climactic ?
* The Change Cometh?
* Challenging The Change?
Any suggestions?

oh tell these idiots to ‘get a life’!
Personally…I love the current title of your blog (although I can certainly understand the incorrect spelling could become annoying!)
I like the name ‘Mind Over Menopause’, but I also like ‘Challenging The Change’.
Can’t imagine whose sensibilities would be offended by menopause, unless it’s the male cross section of the population. And they usually just run from anything to do with it.
All I have to say is thank God I’m post-menopausal. Those are years I wouldn’t want to live again… LOL!
I actually prefer your current title – I think its pretty smart, and better than the alternatives you’ve come up with. As for people being offended by it, they need to get a life and get over it … no doubt they are the same people who get offended by the idea of women breastfeeding in public and stuff like that.
Oh dear. Sometimes the internet really depresses me – all the rudeness, no thought before typing. I see you point for wanting to change and if it feels right then by all means, you should do so. But I would think that maybe ‘Mind over Menopause’ gets read quite a bit because some people find it controversial (I really do not get that at all – menopause, it happens, why are people so threatened?). Maybe in the end it is more education for those people?

Thanks for that! I must admit I was feeling somewhat guilty about choosing a blog title that caused some distress or annoyance to others. I suppose it’s long habit that would cause me to change to please someone else. It seems I’ve spent my life compromising and being “nice”.
Must be time for a change.
Thanks Ladies, and thanks to Ian, the male voice in there
I don’t see what is wrong with the current name either. I think it’s an intelligent choice. I, too, spent most of my life compromising or doing stuff I thought would make me ‘fit in’ just to please others, but where does it get you? You just end up feeling drained & making yourself ill in the process. If people don’t like it then tough, no one forces them to come on this page, they are probably jealous for you coming up with something like this before them, though they probably wouldn’t have had the inclination to anyway. If you want to change it, then it’s your page so it’s really up to you.
I keep being told by my gp’s that I am too young to be going through the menopause yet, but having looked after my own health for years & knowing my own body, plus reading a few books on the peri-menopause & menopause itself, I think they are talking out of their bottoms : ) I am 42 now & know some women have gone through it in their late 20′s & early 30′s, so why is there a definite age where doctors are concerned, esepcially with all the chemicals there are in the water sources these days?
I love the name of your blog. It speaks to your subject matter, an age range of the target audience, and who cares if some people don’t like it. Kudos for sticking to your guns.
BTW, thank you for joining the Healthy Lifestyle Bloggers. I’m proud to your site on the blogroll………………..:)
me too! I think the name Mind Over Menopause is witty, concise, and tells me exactly what to expect when I click through. You could always go with something like “The Hot Flasher” to REALLY stir up the “too controversial” peeps
